What does it mean to be a B Corp? Is that different from a public benefit corporation?
Petaluma, Inc. is both a public benefit corporation and a Certified B Corporation. We were among the first pet food brands to certify, in 2022, and we recertified in 2025. B Lab also named Petaluma Best for the World for environmental impact in 2022.
What non-profits do you partner with?
Petaluma is a member of 1% for the Planet, so we give at least 1% of our revenue to environmental nonprofits in the 1% for the Planet network. We're open about where that giving goes.
What does Change Climate certification mean?
In 2021, Petaluma became the first pet food company to earn Change Climate certification from The Change Climate Project, the nonprofit formerly called Climate Neutral.
Is your packaging recyclable?
Our shipping boxes and inserts are recyclable at the curb, and they're made from recycled material. Our food bags need several layers to keep the food fresh, so they can't go in curbside recycling. Some pet stores collect them in plastic bag drop-off
How does Petaluma’s environmental impact compare to other brands?
We commissioned an independent life cycle assessment (LCA) for each of our baked recipes. Each one measures the land, water, energy and emissions behind the food, from growing the ingredients to baking, packing and shipping it.
