What is the nutritional information of the sweet potato jerky? Is it healthy?Updated 6 months ago
Sweet potatoes are very low in fat (<1%) and relatively high in dietary fiber, which makes our jerky a low calorie snack. It is also appropriate for dogs that need to limit fat consumption, including dogs with issues like chronic pancreatitis.
As with most foods, sweet potatoes are a healthy food consumed in moderation. They are high in beta-carotene (a component of vitamin A), which gives then their bright orange color and acts an an antioxidant in the body. The potatoes are also high in dietary fiber, which benefits digestion and the gut microbiome, in addition to reducing the glycemic load of the carbohydrates in the potato. They contain a fair amount of natural sugar, which should be consumed in moderation.
