Is the soy in your Whole Food Mixer safe for dogs?Updated 3 days ago

Yes, the soy in our Whole Food Mixer is not only safe but also provides exceptional nutritional value for dogs. Despite some misconceptions, soy is an excellent protein source from a nutritional standpoint as it has a complete amino acid profile.

The soy in our Whole Food Mixer is non-GMO, organic soy food called ‘textured vegetable protein’ or TVP. TVP is made from dehydrated and defatted soybeans pressed into flour. TVP has been used in human food applications for decades as a low-fat and protein-rich meat alternative. One of the advantages of using a product like TVP is that it rehydrates well and adds a nice texture to food.

Organic TVP is the largest individual source of protein in this product (30%) and the overall digestibility (~95%) is better than most animal proteins in pet food.

Unlike some lower-quality pet foods that use soy as a filler, we source premium organic soy specifically for its nutritional benefits. Dogs with soy allergies do exist (though they're relatively rare), so if your dog has known food sensitivities, introduce any new food gradually and consult your veterinarian if you have concerns.

P.S. If you're curious about the use of soy throughout history, check out our blog post here!
